Gavi has been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by co-leading the COVAX Facility, a global mechanism set up in 2020 to deliver COVID-19 vaccines across the world, and in particular to the lowest-income countries. As an employer, we also have a duty of care towards our employees by ensuring they can work in a safe and healthy environment. We therefore require our new employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition for pursuing employment with us.

We will not ask you to confirm your vaccination status during the recruitment process, but should you receive an offer of employment from us, we will request a valid vaccination certificate proving that you are fully vaccinated with one of WHO’s approved COVID-19 vaccines before the start date in your contract. We will treat your vaccination status in the strictest confidence, will not share it with any third parties and will not store any vaccination certificates or related information in our IT systems.

Acutely aware of the stark inequity in access to COVID-19 vaccines in lower-income countries, we acknowledge that all candidates may not be able to get vaccinated or cannot choose a WHO-approved vaccine. In this case, you will be able to get vaccinated upon your arrival into Switzerland or the United States, after which you can then prove your vaccination status. Please also advise us if you have a medical exemption for not getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

We reserve the right to withdraw any offer of employment from a candidate who is not willing or able to confirm their vaccination status or provide any evidence of exemption. Please reach out to your recruitment manager, if you wish to discuss your particular situation or have any questions.
