Pandemic Culture

For most of us, the pandemic did not start with a close encounter with the virus. Instead, this new normal began when public life was suddenly snuffed out: streets emptied, squares and parks closed, shops and workplaces shuttered. But, even as life at street-level thinned, street artists in cities all over the world conjured up artworks that spoke to the publics about this strange pandemic moment. In the #VaccinesWork Pandemic Culture series, we profile some of the pictures and artists that have kept us company in our silent urban landscapes over the past 18 months.
