Faisal Sultan is an expert in Infectious Disease and Vaccines and was appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) of Pakistan on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination/Minister of Health in August 2020.
Before this, Dr Sultan served as Chief Executive Officer, Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Pakistan from 2003-2020. He is an accomplished clinician and researcher. He studied Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut from 1989-1992 and Infectious Disease at Washington University School of Medicine from 1992-1995.
He serves on several high-level, national and international decision forums including the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Health, Pakistan Science Foundation, Pakistan Medical Research Council, and the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Advisory Committee (HVAC) of the World Health Organization.
Dr Sultan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a Diplomate in Infectious Disease, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh. He obtained his MBBS from King Edward Medical College in Pakistan.
